Department of Computer Science at Aarhus University (Denmark) invites applications for a 4-month Postdoctoral Research Fellow position with focus on Cryptography. The starting date is November 1, 2026, subject to mutual agreement.
Role descriptionThis is a full-time (37 hours/week) on-site role located at Åbogade 34, 8200 Aarhus N, Denmark for a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Department of Computer Science, Aarhus University. The postdoctoral fellow will conduct research on Consensus Protocols with the Cryptography and Cybersecurity Research Group at Aarhus University.
The focus of the position will be on the scalability of consensus protocols, in particular DAG-based consensus protocols and asymmetric trust.
Responsibilities- Collaborate with faculty members and fellow researchers to produce research results in applied MPC
- Provide guidance and mentorship to graduate and undergraduate students working on related research projects
- Publish research findings in top-tier conferences and journals in computer science and related fields
- Participate in academic activities such as seminars, workshops, and conferences to stay informed of the latest developments in the field
- Ph.D. in computer science or similar
- Interest in developing and evaluating consensus protocols and their applications
- Knowledge of state-of-the-art techniques and tools for applied consensus and blockchain
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative research environment
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines effectively
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative in formulating and executing own research projects

Application procedureShortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman and, if necessary, the appointment committee, the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated. All applicants will be notified whether or not their applications have been sent to an expert assessment committee for evaluation. The selected applicants will be informed about the composition of the committee, and each applicant is given the opportunity to comment on the part of the assessment that concerns themselves.
