About the Role
Røde Kors is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Engineer to join its dynamic team. As a Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining robust and scalable data pipelines and data warehousing solutions. You will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality data solutions that support business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines using various ETL tools and programming languages (e.g., Python, SQL).
- Implement and optimize data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery) for efficient data storage and retrieval.
- Develop and maintain data models that support analytical and reporting needs.
- Ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency by implementing robust data validation and monitoring processes.
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand their data requirements and provide them with reliable and timely data.
- Work with cross-functional teams to integrate data from various sources (e.g., relational databases, APIs, flat files).
- Monitor and troubleshoot data pipeline issues, ensuring high availability and performance of data systems.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies in data engineering and recommend best practices.
- Document data pipelines, data models, and data warehousing solutions.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
- 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
- Strong proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server).
- Extensive experience with at least one cloud data warehousing platform (e.g., Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse Analytics).
- Proficiency in Python for data manipulation, scripting, and ETL development.
- Experience with ETL/ELT tools and frameworks (e.g., Apache Airflow, dbt, Talend, Informatica).
- Solid understanding of data modeling techniques (e.g., dimensional modeling, data vault).
- Experience with big data technologies (e.g., Apache Spark, Hadoop) is a plus.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
