- Tidsbegrænset fuldtidsstilling fra 1. feb. 2027 til 31. aug. 2028
Are you interested in remote sensing and greenhouse-gas monitoring, and can you contribute to the development of the GHG-MONITOR project? Then the Department of Geoscience, Aarhus University, invites you to apply for a 19-month postdoctoral position.
Job description
The postdoctoral researcher will be part of the GHG-MONITOR project, which develops a drone-based method for monitoring greenhouse-gas emissions using a hyperspectral camera. Aarhus Universitet is currently focusing on methane.
The work will include processing and analysing hyperspectral observations and developing and validating methods for quantifying methane emissions. A special focus will be on exploring how Aarhus Universitet's local drone data can be combined with satellite observations, using machine learning and other modelling approaches, to improve methane emission monitoring efforts.
The position includes field campaigns that the candidate should be open to join. The postdoc will collaborate with researchers and external partners and contribute to publications, project reporting and the delivery of the project’s monitoring solution.
Qualifications
Applicants must hold a PhD in remote sensing, computer science, atmospheric or environmental science, geoscience, physics, engineering or a related discipline. Experience with quantitative data analysis and scientific programming, preferably in Python, is required. Experience with hyperspectral imaging, atmospheric spectroscopy, greenhouse-gas measurements, UAV observations, radiative-transfer calculations or atmospheric dispersion modelling will be considered an advantage. The successful applicant should be able to work independently, collaborate across disciplines and communicate effectively in English.
Place of work and area of employment
The place of employment is Aarhus University, and the place of work is Department of Geoscience, Aarhus University, Høegh-Guldbergs Gade 2, DK-8000 Aarhus C, Denmark.
Application procedure
Shortlisting is used. This means that after the deadline for applications – and with the assistance from the assessment committee chairman, and the appointment committee if necessary – the head of department selects the candidates to be evaluated.
